When I connect my miniDV (Sony DCR-IP55E), my macbook pro recognizes it. But on iMovie, it appears as "DCR-MVDVCR (incompatible with project)".
I tried every video formats that iMovie has, such as DV, DV Widescreen, HDV 1080i, HDV 720p, Mpeg-4, iSight and none of them worked...
I'm new on apple's world and it's frustrating to me not knowing how to work with my new macbook pro

Does anyone know how to help me?

The Micro-MV camcorders from Sony will not work with iMovie. Sony created that video format and you have to use their software which only works in Windows.

There's no other way to use that camcorder.

wait a minute.. my camcorder is not a micro mv, it's a mini dv.. it's different =X

Anywhere I see your camera on the internet it says Micro-MV. Got a different resource to prove me wrong? I have the DCR-HC96 and it works great in iMovie. If yours was a Mini-DV then I'd assume it would work the same.
