My first post ,need some advice

I know I should get a Mac Pro (just too much money for a student, and I travel around every couple of months on plane so I can't really take a Mac Pro with me). With an iMac I can possibly take it as a carry on... i mean the 17" isn't that big.

I have a powerbook already... G4 1.67 ghz last rev of the powerbook line (rather sad if you ask me, i don't know if its up for doing intensive graphics/video stuff as I hoped for). So I am looking for another computer possibly like the 17" iMac but I am not sure how it is with video editing?

Or should I just forget about the iMac, sell my 17" powerbook (how much are they worth these days? I already maxed out the RAM its ok for editing and graphics just a bit slow) and wait for the soon to be updated (i hope) Macbook Pro?

Or is the macbook Pro up for it?

Programs I use: final cut, after effects, logic pro
(yes i know i should get a mac pro)

Thanks All

if you were able to live with a powerbook for the past few years (or months or weeks, dpeneding on how long you had it)...you should survive and be happy with the macbook pro. ifyou do get that and use it as your main machine, either go for the 17 inch with firewire 800 or the 15 inch and buy a firewire 800 expansion card for the expresscard slot...
the main advantage with the imac is its hard drive capacity..
the advantage with the macbook pro is its size...and portability

yes, you should just sell the powerbook and use the 2000 you would spend on either the laptop or the imac for a macpro..
heck , i would go for a macpro if i had to make the decision
but if you plan on going with the macbook pro, wait for the core2duo systems to come out which i am pretty sure will come out fairly soon...i would say before macworld if not on macworld

first, is it a 15 inch or a 17 inch powerbook...
i would say you may be able to sell it for a good $1000-1500 depending on the quality and the person's budget and need.
