Hello.
I'm using a Mini Mac Power PC G4.
It's a fantastic machine. The problem, I think, is the fact that it doesn't have a card that allows to record audio.
Whatever...
I'm trying to edit audio.
I didn't like Soundtrack to do it.
Audacity is also a very bad app, I really didn't like it.
I wanted to use Pro Tools.
I've tried to instal it and i'm having problems even with the free version. It asks for Classic.
I tried to install another version of Pro Tools. It's installed but, when I try to run, it says that the audio card is been used by another aplication. But there's no aplication opened.
Does enybody know what is this?
Is there any different process to instal this app?
I thought tha this problem could be happening becausa the Mini Mac doesn't have a card to record audio.
Wel, I don't know.
Can anybody help me?
Is it possible to run Pro Tools in a Mac Mini?
Thanks!!!

- fas as I can tell, there are a few problems...I think protools needs to "see' some other digidesign hardware, like an m-box or 001/2.....and I'm not sure that protools is keyed up for the os that was in the mini - at least it wasn't when I looked into it, but quite a while back..they should have updates on their site for new systems you can download, but I think the real problem is you'll need a digi 002...or some kind of pci or whatever it is extension box etc....you might be able to use just an m-box though, at least that 's what I'm hoping as I want to try to run in on a laptop.....

Yes, it's very possible to run Pro Tools on a Mac Mini. However, the free version of Protools won't run on OS X or even Classic on OS X. It only runs on OS 9.
Also, when you start protools, you can only use it if you have a supported audio interface hooked up. Normally, the only way to get Pro Tools is to get it bundled with some sort of audio hardware so that Pro Tools can run. Otherwise, it'll complain.
All you have to do is hook up your audio interface that you got when you purchased the bundle.
The Mac Mini has a very capable audio system, it's just that Pro Tools was designed purposefully to only work with a handful of audio interfaces.
The cheapest way to get Pro Tools running on a Mac Mini is to buy the Mbox, roughly $400-500.

Thank you, Jamil!
Unfortunately the cheapest way is a little heavy to me... :-(
But thank you anyway?
Can you recomend me any other good audio editor that runs on a Mini Mac?
Thanks again
