VGA Switchbox?

I have a strange problem. I have a new projector that has a VGA input that can be used for either VGA or component video (up to 1080i). This projector has just the single input to do this, yet I wish to have the ability to mount this projector up high and choose from down below which input I wish to use. I was thinking that if I were to use a manual switch box and run a single VGA cable to the projector from that switch box (like seen in the old days), this would be much like connecting or disconnecting the cables manually. I know that newer switch boxes make electronic switching, which probably isn't compatible with the HD version.

Thoughts? Thanks!
