Our next door neighbors put on one heck of a Halloween part each year. It's a pretty big deal and even the invites are pretty elaborate. This year they have asked me to help by putting together a photo montage of previous years set to sound that is sort of a "DVD invitation". The project is moving along just fine, but I'm starting to think I need to label these before they go out. The wife of the couple is building the invites as a sleeve for the disk, but I would hate for them to just pull out a plain jane DVD-R.
All arguments over "it will cause the disk to be imbalanced" aside, does anyone have any recommendations for a disk labelling kit or "stamper" that produces quality results? I have an HP 2600n Color Laser that I'll be running these through. I've also seen some with matte white, foil, etc. as the stock medium, but I'm not sure what the pros or cons of each might be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this belongs in another area, but I figured that out of all of the movie makers around here, somenoe has to have done this before!

I have switched from paper CD labels (Stomper) to put on DVDs to a specific DVD label stock. I notice that the DVD-specific stock is MUCH lighter than the CD-Stomper type stock. I haven't had any problems with DVDs labelled with this type of stock.
The first batch I used was from Fellowes.

i found that printing directly onto the dvds (designed for printing) works out pretty well...
however, it can be a little bit more time consuming, but the final product is nice...
that is just my opinion.

Understood. I've heard others go that same route with good success. However, my neighbors already bought the CDs for this project and a decent label based system will allow me the freedom to pick up blank media that I like (have had success with) when they are on sale, regardless if they are printable or non-printable surfaces.
Thanks!

Just a warning, for what it's worth. I have had poor success with Verbatim DVD-R, and with generic DVD-R. They play fine on the iMac, but not on commercial DVD players. I have always had great success with Sony media. (I do NOT work for Sony or have any financial stake in the company. They just work time after time for me.)
