Looking for a HD Video Camcorder

Looking for advice on HD a Camcorder for under $1000.
I would like to shoot close-ups.

I'm pretty new to the video part multimedia and I would like to applied my flash skills to video.

Not gonna happen for under $1000. Sony I think had the most inexpensive HD camcorder

Just got a Canon HV10, couldn't be happier (price is $1,200 ish).

Maybe someone can recommend tapes for it? I got some Sony HD for $10 a pop, wondering if there are alternatives.
