codec question

I have a bunch of .avi files that whenever i try to play them in quicktime a window pops up saying i dont have the right codec to play this file and it leads me to the apple website. I have downloaded the DIVX codec. What codecs from the apple website do need to download to get these file to play in Quicktime. They work fine in VLC. Thanks for the help.

While they're playing in VLC, hit cmd-i and find the video and audio streams and expand the disclosure triangles to see the codec(s).
