I have the new Sony DCR-SR80 Hard Drive camera. I also have a new imac 24. The camera does not have Firwire out, and the imac can't read the video from USB. Does anyone have any idea how I can convert this and get the video on to my imac? Someone suggesting using windows paralells.

My old Sony Camera does have firwire capabilities, but for some reason, they left it off their Hard Drive camera's. I'm at a loss....

connect your camera to your mac via usb2
your mac should recognize camera as external harddrive
drag'n drop files
use approbiate tools to convert mpeg2 into dv for usage in iApps or buy FCP for handling such files...

IMHO: mpeg2 is a delivery format, end-of-the-road, not meant for further processing...
