Mac is a single 1,25 GHz MDD, ATI 9000, 1,25 GB RAM, 2*80 GB hard disks plus an external 160 GBs LaCie FW 400.

Question is -I hope- plain simple, which would be the easiest-cooler-affordable way to get those old school Video8 tapes on DVD media discs?, I would like such device was iDVD -and the alike iApps- friendly, so one could bring some magic there besides the boring one button move from Video8 to DVD you could do with a Pioneer DVD recorder device I have here, which is kinda expensive 600€ but not that cool for such task.

I am not by any means a video expert, so please don't omit any obvious stuff.

I guess than a 'silly' way to do it comes by getting the video8 tape on a DVD disc with the Pioneer DVD recorder and then rip it with the Mac to add-edit whatever the user wants… could be it?

BTW, the Pioneer device is this model:
DVR-545HX-S Pioneer Hard Drive DVD Recorder - Audio - Video
