I've set up a small Event Video Production business and many of my clients come back a couple of months after receiving their DVD's looking for maybe 20 copies for friends etc.

My old PC (yep, it had some good points) came bundled with basic software that allowed me to simply insert the original DVD and press the button marked "Copy". Once it had ripped the DVD all I had to do was feed it blank DVD's and it would burn as many perfect copies as I needed.

My Mac came with the latest OS X, iLife and Final Cut Studio, but I can't find any simple way of doing the same. Is it there somewhere, or do I need to get additional software. If I need to buy some, what do you recommend (cheap but good would be excellent!)

Also.. I have two 16x superdrives... can I burn two discs simultaneously?

(note... not interested in copying anything illegaly - just my own work)

Thanks!

Disk Utility (in /Applications/Utilities) can copy disks. I don't know about 2 drives at once, but poke around, it's pretty self-explanatory.

State of the art is Toast, but I don't think it will do much more than DU for you in this case, although I'm pretty sure I've read that it supports multiple drives at once, even networked.

I've not tried it, but it looks like Disk Utility will ask you for which drive you want to burn to. If one is already in use (i.e. burning), I expect that it'll just offer you the other one.

I am in the same business.
I use NewTech Infosystems (NTI) Software - Best Ultimate CD & DVD Burning & Backup software
It has multi drive support.

Try Toast Titanium Pro. It can do on the fly burning. If you bought a new drive toast would probably be included

Also, if you own toast and two burnable drives, duplicate the toast app and launch both- this will allow to burn to both drives at the same time. Also, to speed things up you can tell toast how many copies you want and it will automagically eject and ask for the next disc.

Yes, Disk Utility should do your job by making a disk image first, but I use Toast Platinum and it is so versatile, you will get your investment back quickly.
