Hello, I am wondering how to get clips of a movie I would like to include in a trailor I want to make for a movie I have on dvd. How do I go about getting these clips from my dvd onto my computer. Thanks a lot in advance.

Handbrake or MacTheRipper

Handbrake isn't really suitable, as it exports varieties of MPEG-4 (mp4, h264) which Final Cut Pro doesn't edit natively. What you'll probably want to do (I'm assuming) is export your clips in DV format.

You can use Mac The Ripper to rip DVDs to your hard drive, then export to DV using MPEG Streamclip, which is free.

Other (commercial) alternatives for converting video from DVD are DVDxDV and Cinematize.
