Hi!

I've just purchased a headset for use with Skype on my 12" PowerBook G4, but just encountered a problem. When I'm trying to set ut the audio preferences in OS X apparently no sound is coming in through the microphone. The headphones are working perfectly, but I can't seem to set the system so that the sound from the microphone comes in... can anyone help me, please?

Many PC headsets won't work on Macs because their microphones are mic level and not line level.

Griffin makes a USB adapter allowing use of many PC headsets.

Or you can buy a headset that says it will work with Mac.

I use this USB headset with Skype and it performs admirably, although it doesnt fold as small as I would wish.

Skype lists some other Mac compatible options.

Hope that helps.
