hey gang.
I'm salvaging some of my own video work from DVD. I ripped the DVD using mactheripper into VOB and am now trying to convert the VOBs with mpeg stream clip into a usuable video file with FCP. My problem is finding the right encoding option that lessens loss of quality.
What I"m finding is that the new video files once burned are shaky, the picture vibrates and it makes it very jarring and even uncomfortable for the viewer. other than that, the picture is sharp when there is no movement in the frame.
I feel all my settings are correct, video size, frame rate. I'm not sure however if the original video is interlaced or progressive. From my understanding I shot it in progressive, with the dvx 24pAdvanced. But using pulldown removal I outputted the video interlaced for playback on a TV, DVD player, etc. Is that right?
Anyway
As you can see I have some idea of what I'm doing but what I'm really looking for is one of you gurus out there with any insight in the matter. Especially any one with a handle on mpeg streamclip and all those different encoding options.
thanks

p.s. I'm also burning a disc of all tests. a small clip encoded in all the different options, it will be an extensive project but maybe I will figure it out.
