My kid brother is studying video, he created his first iMovie Music Video for class. But he is ready for a NEW computer.

Right now he works on a G4/400 with 512mb RAM, 1x27gb Quantum, 1x20 gb. Other than that its the basic G4 computer.

What would make a difference in getting iMovie (and later the After Effects/Premier combo) up to speed. Of course massive storage is something we know, but would a Dual processor (533) make a bigger differencethan a single processor G4 (733).

The SuperDrive would be nice, but not something he needs, I'm just looking for the perfect solution (unless Apple DOES release a dual processor G4/733 machine within the next month, then the decision is easy)

Any help would be appreciated.

I would expect that you will see faster dual processor configs before too long. Certainly by the time "Back-to-School" season starts.

You should also have a look at the academic price of Final Cut Pro.
