Hi All,
I just read through all the previous posts for the best camera, and I have a few questions before I buy:

1) I am looking to use this camera with FCP, and it should be cross platform to use with Premiere, and am looking to spend $1500 to $2500. I don't want a full size camera. I want:
a) Good battery life, with the ability to charge off the camera.

b) Low light capability.

c) Firewire interface

d) Analog input/output to hook a VCR or standard video camera up to import/export

e) Timed shooting (1 frame every 10 sec, or something like that)

f) Stabilizing function

g) Still image acquisition and huge digital zoom is not really desired, but 100x would do.

h) Form factor is not a big factor, I could go either way with the upright or traditional type.

Any Ideas on something that fits the bill? It sounds like the Sony cameras have a slightly better Firewire implementation and you pay more, and the Canons are feature rich and a little more inexpensive.

Also, what does analog in/out involve on these? Is it RCA jacks, s-video or what? I would prefer RCA jacks. Forgive my basic questions, but I have waded through web page after web page, and...I gotta fish or cut bait!

Thanks for all of your help!

I hope the model name is the same in the US, the one to go for is the TRV900 from SONY.IMHO.

The analog I/O is RCA's and standard 4 pin mini-DIN S-Video, but you can't go in and out at the same time (monitoring) which is unfortunate.

The Canon VM1 is a lower rez device that uses pixel shifting to generate the intermediate pixel data, (Just like FUJI's supposed 6 megapixel D1 digital camera that's actually only 3.5MP's!!!) SONY CCD's simply ARE the best at the moment.

Digital zoom is a load of horse bucky, anything above 40x is a waste of time, truly!

The non-interlaced still image on the TRV-900 is first class and you get a floppy-drive with the camera to put the images onto.

Nuff Said? E-Mail me if you want to know more.
