Hey all,
Just switched over to OS X and iTunes 2.0.3 (previously OS 9.2 and Audion 2.6.1) and I am wondering if iTunes can replace Audion. Here's my problem:

I added songs to the Library, and saw that an album had incorrect ID3 Tags in the iTunes display. I went and updated the ID3 Tags with MP3 Rage, and then thought I could "Update" or "Refresh" the Library list to take into account the new information - but didn't see that anywhere. So then I Cleared all of the previously incorrect music files to try the "Add to Library" (which should have taken into account the ID3 Tag changes I made) - but I cannot add the files at all back into the Library.

What, once you Clear them they will never go back? Isn't there a way to just "refresh" the files in the Library without having to Clear them (since I cannot add them back afterwards)?

Thanks for the help, since Audion is having it's own problems I'd like for iTunes to be my default from now on - but it's off to a bad start.

I'm actually not sure what you were trying to do, but the best way to update the ID3 tags on your MP3s using iTunes is to update them using iTunes using the apple-I command. There, you can adjust such things like the title, track, album, artist, type, etc.

Thanks for the reply - but iTunes' "Get Info" pales in comparison by a LARGE amount as to what you can tag into an MP3 file with ID3v2.3 or ID3v2.4 information which programs such as Audion 2.6 and MP3 Rage 4 can incorporate (Lyrics, Cover Artwork, etc.). Plus, iTunes does not have batch ID3 Tag renaming (which is extremely useful for renaming entire album folders, etc.).

That being said, can anyone tell me how to get iTunes to either:

1) Refresh information of an MP3 file if it has been modified since its inclusion into the iTunes Library

or

2) How to "Add to Library..." if a song which was previously in the Library has been "Cleared" from the Library

Thanks,
Boulder
