I believe it is 150K/s (at least that's the capabilites of a 1x CD drive)

The tracks are 16bits 44 kHz stereo, which makes:

16 bits 44,1 kHz : 16 * 44100 = 705600 bits per seconds
705600 / 8 = 88200 bytes per seconds
stereo: 88200 * 2 = 176400 bytes per seconds
close to 150 K/s...

am i wrong ?

Yes
16-bit 44.1k has become the standard for CD which makes a good basis for comparison.

Just outa curiousity I checked a track off a CD just now, duration is listed as 4:51 (min:sec) and the filesize is 48.9megs, the sums come out to 168K/sec but I'm sure "file-stuff" accounts for some of the filesize so 150 must be it.

You forget that a MB is 1024 bytes, not 1000. If you multiply 48.9 by 1024 and then divide by 291 seconds (4:51), you get the same 172K/sec as "noliv" got above (176400 bytes/sec / 1024 bytes/Kbyte = approx 172Kbytes/sec).

I'd say that 172Kbytes/sec is a reasonable rate. Although the original question was "what is the bit rate?"

16 bits * 44100 cycles/sec * 2 tracks = 1411200 bits/sec or 1.3458Mbits/sec

Check my math. I'm not a mathematician.
