Does anyone know much about DivX technology? Would you mind explaining a bit about how it works and what it can do? I heard about it from a friend about it but I don't trust anything he tells me.

Basically it makes DVD video 10x smaller.

and it's a codec based on MPEG-4. You get pretty decent movie sizes and very good quality.

check http://www.3ivx.com/ too, they will release their codec in 10 days...
