I just bought my first Mac in a long, long, time. Now on the PC side I have gotten into the world of SVCDs.

Is it possible to play these on the Mac? The SVCDs are usually in the MPEG-2 format and I am having problems playing them myself but of course like I said before, this is my first Mac in a long, long, time.

Thanks in advance.

Go to http://www.versiontracker.com/

Bookmark this site, it is the center of the Mac software universe for freeware, shareware and even commercial software updates.

Select the tab for MacOS or MacOSX, whichever you use.

In the search field, type 'VCD'. You will get several freeware items to choose from to play VCDs.

what have you tried to play them? I don't use VCD's even, because I don't have an external dvd player, but I think your only chance is to try using the software dvd player. Quicktime can't play MPEG-2 files (the capability was promised in the past, but never implemented; there are a few open-source solutions being worked on, but they're not really close to being done). Which OS are you using?
