Hello.

I'm a PC User that is on the verge of buying a Mac
(probably the new iMac).

After having problems in re-creating Tivo-like functionality from an ATI card in my PC (frequent software lockups after minimal recording) I was wondering what solutions are available on a Mac.

I see the Firewire TV-Tuner from Formac. But it seems like they do not have TV-Guide software that comes with it? Is such a service available via a 3rd party?
Just wondering what people here have used, if they are happy with it, or what hidden alternatives are out there? ATI need not apply.
(Since I am looking at the new iMac, I am going to be limited to USB/Firewire solutions only)

Has anyone had luck with recording TV and creating VCD or DVD copies of such for playback in settop DVD players?
And Specifically, can you use the DVD-R to record the lower quality MPEG1 (VCD) video onto DVD for longer playtimes.

Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.

Hello again.
I dont really want to bump my own message.

But does anyone here do TV Recording w/ thier Mac?
Is there a better site on the Web to find this sort of information?
Any help to this Mac newbie would be appreciated.

I have found most of the answers to my previous post EXCEPT in regards to Capture 'cards' coming w/ any sort of scheduling or TV-Guide like software.

Thanks
