I want download the new iBook movie. so I can grab it on the broardband connection at work and view it at home. But Apple have done a 'Click to play' single frame movie with an enbedded link to the full movie, which has the save options disabled.
Anyone know how I could save the full movie to disk, or am I just gonna have to watch it at work nd keep an eye out for the boss.

Once its loaded, if you have QT Pro, you can click the arrow and save as a quicktime movie.

Otherwise, view the source code of the page and find the link to the full movie, then download it with Interarchy or whatever...

I knew I had done this before once and I just remembered! You don't need QTPro, just the right browser.
You will need a browser that keeps the cache in separate files, like iCab or Netscape, then check your QT settings that under "Browser plug-in" it's set to stor downloaded movies in the disk-cache. Then you go to Apple's site and start downloading the movie with your browser as usual. Then, with Sherlock, you search your System folder for files ending with ".mov" and a creation date that same day. Have Sherlock sort the results by creation date and pretty soon you will find the correct file.

Good luck!

Well, that's the hard way. You will also need to alter the creator code and file type of the cache file you find in order to play it with the QuickTime Player.

You just need QuickTime Pro. If you have the Pro version, then you get the option to "Save as QuickTime Movie" directly from any browser that is using the QuickTime plug-in.

Heh, it just sounds difficult when I explain it ;-)
Still, it's an alternative to the $29.99 Quicktime Pro solution.
