I often download MP3s from the internet or exchange with friends and I have encountered a problem with certain files. The sound plays for 2 seconds and then stops for 2 seconds through the whole track.
At first, I thought it was just a freak thing, but it happens fairly often. My questions are: Why does this happen? And is there anything I can do to "fix" MP3s that are like this?
First of all, if you don't mind my asking, what program are you using to play the MP3's? Also, what are the specs of your Mac (i.e., type, RAM, OS, etc.)
First off I'll start with the specs:
Revision B iMac
OS 8.6
64 MB RAM
Surprisingly, since I've been incurring this problem for over a year and a half, I've discovered something new. I know the broken sound occurs running Quicktime (4 or 5) and GrayAMP. Those happen to be my preferred players, but I tried the same file on Audion and it played fine. Increasing the RAM allocation does not help.
I'd still like to know why this happens, and any recommendations on light MP3 players to use that don't incur this problem.
