Hi,

I just downloaded a WMA file from internet and I am trying to convert it to mp3. I tried to do this with iTunes but it didn't work. Does anyone know how to do this thing without using some really heavy professional tools?

Thanks,

Go to http://www.macamp.com/macamp.html and download the MacAmp application, then go to the addons section and download the Audio Hijack plugin. You can then set MacAmp to receive audio from any application and write the sound to disk as an AIFF which you can convert to MP3 with iTunes.

I believe Audion can do this.

Audion 2.5 does indeed support the playback of WMA files. Whether or not it can convert them to MP3 (a standard format, I'm lead to believe ) I cannot say. I don't have a WMA file to try it on.

Naturally there are plenty of apps to do this on a PC, but very few for the Mac. Of course, Windows media is not a standard, no matter what M$ wants us to believe, and so hardly anyone uses it for anything other than streaming audio and video. That's why they're forcing it down peoples' throats in WindowsXP.
