Hi,

i love iMovie.
i'm embarassed
(being that i use iMovie everyday)
to say that i don't know the answer to these 2 questions ;

why are the rendered titles from iMovie so crappy looking ?

when you place the titles on the time line it looks great ,
then it finishes rendering and looks like crap.

what's up with that?

is there any way of adjusting the resolution to cater specifically to streaming output?

ALSO:

how does the [captured] video format of iMovie content
differ from the [captured] video format of FCP content ???

FCP works with the DV-NTSC or DV-PAL format. iMovie uses DV Streaming.

And you can change the resolution when you export it to Quicktime.

Both use the DV codec, along with QuickTime. I'm not sure if iMovie let's you use PAL instead of NTSC, but FCP does.

As for the titles, you might be able to use a QuickTime text track and QuickTime effects, which would also reduce filesize.

Moving titles and choice of font size probably make a big difference, too. For moving titles, encoding to a higher framerate helps a lot.
