Hi. I recorded something today in AIFF and the file is over 700MB. I would really like to break this up into smaller files so I can burn it nicely to a CD with tracks. Anyone know if there is any free or cheap software that can do this? thanks.

Have you tried QuickTime? I have no experience with something this large but I daily record AIFFs up to about 550MB and I have edited out segments from them using QT.

I use Coaster (freeware) to automatically record the morning NHK Baroque program at 6:00AM using iDo Script scheduler to run Applescripts to schedule the start of recording, end of recording and saving to a file (usually about 560MB). After that I turn it into an mp3 with iTunes and delete the original.

There is a shareware program called Jasmine (check version tracker to find the current version) which is reputed to be good for editing very large files.

CD Spindoctor is the application that comes with Toast. QT Pro or Spindoctor should do the job. If you need to do other stuff like fading, volume adjustment, or normalization, you should try Amadeus 2.

Hey neutrino23.

I've been trying to do something similiar to this for awhile and can't get it working. Is there anyway you could e-mail me so we could discuss? I'm at vmpaul61@hotmail.com

I think my problem is with my play-through sound set-up. I'm assuming you use some app (SoundJam, Audion, RealPlayer) to play your station and Coaster records it. Is that correct?

Thanks. I'd appreciate your help.

Quicktime will do it, but not nicely.

Spin Doctor is a little better.

Peak LE which comes with Adaptec Jam works great.

use Felt Tip Sound Studio. Its shareware but the free version has everything you would ever need unless you are some kind of pro or something, in which case you wouldnt use a free program. so yeah, FeltTip Sound Studio.
