I am currently looking into the getting a new 867 or an old 733, for using the SuperDrive with StudioPro.
Does this annoucement change anything... LaCie offers a competitor to the SuperDrive
B]The question really is can the Apple SuperDrive... Burn ReWritable DVD Discs AND Write Once DVD Discs... like the new LaCie Drive can??[/B]
Thanks
tom

apple's site mentions nothing about DVD-RW. makes me wonder if the LaCie page is just a misprint.

We've heard from a reader who reports success with data backup to a DVD-RW disk in his SuperDrive:
"At last, Data back up on SuperDrives. I just received my first pack of DVD-RW disks to try on my G4 733 and I have to report they write data like a hot knife through a butter, a whole 4.7 gigs no problem.
"The DVD-RWs read in standard Apple DVD drives too, I had been worried only the superdrive would read them but no, my iMac DVD and my old G4/400 both mounted these data monsters sans hiccup. Quick erase was pretty swift. Life is good "</font>

I'm curious, or should I say, I'm wondering if the superdrive will read my TypeII DVD (maxell) 2.6 RAM from my old LeCie RAM Drive. Is UDF fully supported? Of course I would have to bust them out of there little cases first. Could they be updated. I'm about to order a couple G4/867s
and this whole SuperDrive thing is more perplexing than it should be.
