While Apple's realizing it's fallen behind in areas such as CD-RW, I noticed that Dell is now offering THX certified systems (see http://www.dell4me.com/thx). This is a milestone Apple really should have reached first, as much as it prides itself on being a leader in desktop movies, music, and audio. Here's hoping Apple at least catches up very soon.

Hmmm, Pretty Interesting. Dell Might of gotten Geroge Lucas' likeing of speakers, but look who's computer's he is useing to do all the 3D animation for Episode 2, and what Multimedia format he chose to show the Episode 1 trailer excusively in, and the Episode 2 trailer has been announced for. I wouldn't be surprised if Jobs brought out Lucas and he tell everone that Macs get the certification too.

the thign with the DELL system is that it is the whole system, with Altec Langsing speakers, the power amp, the soundcard, 5.1 Dolby and stuff. For Apple to be certified is had to offer a complete system that can deliver a THX experience. I think Steve & the guys should be introducing a cool and nice system, with decent sound soon. Else, they will lag behind, again. Which we don't want.

There's a post somewhere about Creative bringing the Soundblaster Live with 5.1 audio channels to the Mac. That's a step.

Yeah, I've heard the same report from several sources. Soundblaster should be releasing a card soon that will for the Mac. Seriously though, if this turns out to be a false rumor, and Apple does not upgrade its sound. . .I will be very disappointed. One lame stereo jack sucks. Apple needs some viagra for its audio output, no joke. Heck, that goes for much of Apple's increasingly dated hardware (except for the G4 chip!).

The Soundblaster article was on AppleInsider... who'se parent site is MacNN So of course it has to be true.

THX Certification for Mac's won't be that difficult... Since Steve and George are good friends... I mean George has Star Wars Trailers and previews on QuickTime only... Steve bought a part of Gegorge's ILM and created Pixar. So they've known each other for a while... Like I said before, I wouldn't be surprised to see George on stage during Steve's Keynote (or on a screen like he did with <cough><cough> Bill)
