I'm trying to play midi files with pro tools free but there is no sound.
I made a MIDI file with Virtual Drummer 4.3 and tryied to put this file on PT, then when I played... nothing happend. Then I opened the file whit QT4, the application asked to change some kind of format, or translation (I'm not sure) and then played the file normally. Then I tryied again with the file that QT has changed (and played) on PT and... nothing again... some one help me... I think there is some "communication" problem with PRO TOOLS... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know much about ProTools free but I think it is trying to play the MIDI data on an external MIDI source and not on the SoundManager synthesizer (which is what QT does). ProTools is basically an audio tool, for multitrack recording, mixing, effects, audio for video and that kind of work. For MIDI I would go with something like Cubase or Digital Performer (which also have very good audio tools inside) and external MIDI gear.

Did you install OMS? Protools free requires it for it's midi components. There should be a link at the digidesign site.

I do have OMS installed in my system. I just tryied to make a MIDI w/ PTF, then export it as Multi-Track MIDI, and tryied to open it with QT and everything worked fine, so I'm almost sure about the PTF configuration problem...
