Does anyone know how to get my Mac-made VCDs to play properly on a home DVD player? I have M.Pack and have successfully created a VCD using my iMac. It works fine on software VCD players for my computer, but my SONY DVD player refuses to recognize the disk (though it did recognize it once...), and my Pioneer DVD player plays the video, but only with what sounds like very scrambled audio. Both of these players are able to play VCDs, according to my documentation. The movies were encoded with the DV-NTSC (no compression) codec and no compression on the audio. M.Pack was set to all NTSC defaults, but with the "Toast Compliant" options enabled. Can any one shed some light on my problem? Email corrispondence is preferable, but posting is fine. Thanks.

Yeah, I tried the same thing... and my DVD player refused to read it. Yes it says "DVD/VCD Player" so it is supposed to play VCDs. Can anyone up us on this?

Have you tried different types of CDR media? The lasers in home DVD players may not be picking up the signal if the CDR is of poorer quality.

Many DVD players can only play commercial VCDs (which are apparently popular in Asia). These DVD players have problems with homemade VCDs, due to the differences in CDR/CDRW media. I recommend checking out the VCD Helper site (www.vcdhelper.com) which has a great deal of information on VCDs. It also includes an area where users discuss their experiences with different DVD players, and their ability to play CDR and CDRW media.

good point about the CD Quality... I'll try getting a Platnium quality CD-R and see how that does.

hi!

the last time i heard, generally w/ newer dvd players it is better 2 use cd-r/w, rather than cd-r media 4 vcd compatibility- something 2 do w/ the fact that the specs r more defined.

while i normally use verbatim, i'm testing some french manufactured hi-space cd-r/w media- which r supposedly the finest on the planet- should b interesting

there's been alot of talk of this as of late

mwsf could have some interesting 'new' products, like apple branded astarte?
