Hey everyone,

I used to be able to play audio cds from my Yamaha 8x8x24 FireWire CDR-W (Love it, by the way!) drive on my Mac... All of a sudden this isn't working anymore...

I'm still able to rip audio from it to AIFF or MP3, but when I insert a disc in the drive and it mounts, it looks like it's playing (I see the tracks and the time counting in SoundJam) but no audio is coming out... I know the disc works (it's a real cd, not a burned cd) since it plays in both the DVD drive of my iMac DV SE and any regular CD player... Any ideas? I know people have said that you cannot play audio over the FireWire bus but this used to work! I'm not hallucinating!

I hate to say it, but I think you're hallucinating. You'll need to have a patch cord from the CDRW to your mac audio input port in order to hear audio on the mac.

Check the Sound Control panel's Sound In panel to see if your CDRW is there. If it is, select it and I apologize. If it's not, then you'll have to connect a patch cord and select Mic in in order to hear audio.
