Hi all, New iMac in my home.
I just attempted to open DVD player just to look at it, though I don't have a DVD here. I wanted to check out controls, interface etc., but I received an error message that said "This Macintosh doesn't support Apple DVD!"??
What? It's 500 Mhz Snow DV SE!
So, am I a total newbie here? Is this what happens when there's no DVD in drive or is there something further I need to look into?

No, you shouldn't be getting that error message, even without a DVD in the drive.

Do you have an external CD-R/CD-RW drive? Do you have Toast installed on your iMac? If so, see this Tech Info Library article:
