I am a student and want to buy a Digital8 camera so I can do some basic iMovie stuff on my iBook. I am on a budget and need to stay below $600. I have heard mixed reviews over the Sony line but from what I read it will suit my needs since I will not be doing anything overly advanced. So my question is:

Which model of Sony cameras provides the best series of features for the price of the camera. Or are there another brand I should take a look at apart from the list below?

Sony DCR-TRV120
Sony DCR-TRV130
Sony DCR-TRV220

ALSO anyone know the best place to buy??

Thanks

Sony's camcorders are the best and the most compatible with the Mac. For under $600 you can get a fine camcorder. Check out:
www.bhphotovideo.com/

for some good deals.

I have a TRV-320 and it works great with my Mac.

You can check www.pricegrabber.com or mysimon.com for price comparisons. However, I like CNETs price comarison site. I think they weed out more of the less desireable businesses. To check Sony camcorder prices on cnet go here: http://electronics.cnet.com/cgi/CEPL...by=review&

I bought a TRV730 from buydig.com 2 weeks ago for $691 (before shipping). I had a good experience buying from this company. Previously, I tried to buy from 2 different places that were listed on pricegrabber.com (lowest listed prices), but eventually canceled my order with both of them (lesson: if a price is too good to be true, it probably is). However, you can buy a camera for MUCH less on the internet than at a department store. For this model camera, most places were selling it for $999.

The TRV-120 may be hard to get, but it has the ability to play Hi-8 tapes. I know, that the TRV-130 can't, and I don't know about the TRV-220.

I've got my wedding on Hi-8 tapes, so playing them back through the TRV-120 was important.
