there are no superdrive machines shipping today from Apple.

they could have made it a BTO but no...

I think it is just you. If you look on some of the other forums people have already received their 867MHz machines with Superdrives. There was a post someplace from someone who was already using it to burn DVD-RW (not the same as DVD disks).

At the local stores here in Japan I have already seen and tested the 867MHz with Superdrive. They silkscreen on "Superdrive" on the cover plate over the drive.
