Static in audio during DVD playback?

Greetings ALL!
Saw a post around here recently re: static in audio during DVD playback but can't find it. I have intermittent static 'ticks' when playing DVD movie. I increased memory to DVD app from 8353 k to 30000 k, (thought I saw that was the way to address the situation), but, nope.
Thanks for your feedback.

I am so grateful for this community. Mac users rule.

How often are the "ticks"? Does it happen when the headphones are not plugged in. My guess is it's just the DVD player's laser switching disk layers.

Hi.
Ticks are every 15-30 seconds usually, with no pattern to them.
Yes, it does happen whether the phones are in or not.
And they're quite audible regardless of the audio volume. Thanks.

Solved i believe!

Vitual memory was off when i first tried the DVD player.

Now, I tried DVD withvirtual memory on and voila, no audio ticks.

I am viewing different DVD tonight, but it looks like this was the issue.

The simplest things....

Best,

Hey there is another way to solve the problem
Got off the phone with an Apple Tech guy and he informed me that apple suggests turning off Appletalk when playing DVDs. I had the tick 2....but now it is gone
