• iMovie using the DV Stream format
• FinalCut Pro uses NTSC Video format

What I usually do is import my clips from my camcorder with iMovie (just cus it's easier, it'll separate the clips), and then import each individual file into FinalCut Pro.

I just got back from Maui and have about 2 hours of video to edit

So my question... Will the method above provide the same quality on output as if I were to just import the clips into FinalCut directly from the camcorder?

they both use exactly the same format: QuickTime DV NTSC (because you're in america - it's PAL for europe and other countries)

QuickTime DV encapsulate the original DV stream from your camera, therefor no difference in quality.

Agreed quality will be the same. Just wondering if you've ever done a batch capture in FCP. Check it out in the manual! Its easy and you have far more control. I have used your method in the past with success though.

I capture with iMovie and open the clips with Premiere...will I get the same quality this way too?

If anyone can tell mehw to properly capture with Adobe Premiere 6.0 I won't need to use this method anymore.
