My new Quicktime 5.0.2 version ( non-Pro, Player only) has an annoying habit.
When I start up my Quark Xpress 4.11 or attempt to Save a document in Clarisworks 4.04, I suddenly get the Quicktime Software Updater instead. Cancelling out of the dialog box starts up Remote Access, and my Mac still tries to log onto the QuickTime server at Apple. This of course takes a minute or so to get past.
This is very annoying. I saved a copy of the QuickTime Updater files from the QT 5.0.2 Folder to another drive , and trashed the original. This will hopefully solve the problem. HOWEVER---using the QT Settings control panel to disable " Check for Updates" did not help at all. I would've thought that would do it. Nope!
Has anyone else had this problem with an intrusive QT 5.0.2 Updater taking over their machine or at least some particular applications in certain cases ???
BTW--- I am using a Mac 8600/ PowerLogix G3- 350 processor, two HD's running OS 8.6 I do have OS 9.0.4 on the other drive of the same machine, but have not gone there yet to see if the problem is existent.
