Wondering if it is possible to get iTunes to play without making a gap between each song (like how it can do so when burning)...? Is it possible?

Bear with me, because I'm not sure this is true. But I don't think it's possible. I think it has to do with the way iTunes actually identifies and plays songs. This is my bizzare guess. I have no idea how close to the truth this is, but I think it makes some sense.

When an analog CD player has a disc inserted into it, it scans the disc for start and stop points of tracks, and then lets you do what you want. If you just press the play button, it acts like a record player would. It just reads from the top to the bottom of the disc. It remembers where those start and stop markers were and identifies them when it hits them.

Digital software players though, don't do this. They identify the start and stop points on the disc and then have to talk the CD device. This may be the data being sent back and forth to the CD player and the software. I'm not sure why this works this way, or why the old school CD player had no problem doing this.

that's my screwed up explanation.
don't know if it will help, but maybe someone will notice how screwed up my answer is and correct me
