iMovie monitor display is garbled

Often, after using the application menue to switch back to iMovie (2.0.3) the display in the iMovie monitor is all garbled. It looks like everything is there, but segments of video lines are interlaced.

Then after switching to another application, when I force a redraw after closing that application's window, the monitor starts showing the correct picture again. In fact only the portion that had been covered up before gets redrawn properly.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?
