Anybody having problems burning CD's with iTunes? I keep getting -7000 error codes (-7652; -7629; and one other in the same neighborhood) every time I try to burn a CD on my iBook (the new cool one).

It will prepare and write the tracks and then once it starts to close the session the disk gets kicked out and the error code comes up.

This happened when I was running iTunes 2.0 and then again after I upgraded to 2.0.4. so that now I can't burn Audio CD's. I can burn files and backup storage stuff, but not audio CD's anymore.

I have more than enough allocated memory and RAM and the CD playlist shows 628 MB, so I'm not over the CD's memory storage limit and, of course, I can't find anybody that can tell me what the error codes mean, because as we all know, error codes have no actual meaning and are put there as a cruel joke by Jobs.

This happened in the past and I reinstalled iTunes and then it worked fine. Now it's happening again, I didn't reinstall, but upgraded and that had no effect.

I don't want to just do the standard "reinstall," because there is something wrong and that p*sses me off and it will obviously keep happening.

I've also noticed that I can't use the "turn visuals on" with this 2.0.4 upgrade without it freezing and/or crashing. I got the OS 9 version to be compatible with my OS.

Anyone having similar problems? Clues? Hints? Prayers? Voodoo rituals?

Perform an exorcism of any Toast-related material if you are working in OS9 and have Toast installed.

It's not as mysterious as it sounds, but just create a new "Toast-Free" extension set in extensions manager under OS9 and deactivate anything that came with Toast (Firewire, USB and whatever support). You must have and "_____ authoring support" extensions clicked as active. Then reboot.

Toast and iTunes don't play well together under OS9. you can either activate the authoring support stuff and use itunes or the Toast stuff and use Toast. But in either case, the opposing camp cannot be invited to the party at all unless you want egg on your face and the guests complaining about your coasters. But on their own, both products are very valid.

Another reason to upgrade to OSX.

is this a playlist consisting of ripped mp3's ? remember that unless you are buring them off as mp3's (as set in your itunes preferences) this will be increased significantly by the conversion to aiff for burning as an audio cd.. a better guide would be the elapse time..

if burnig ripped files check your burning speeds.. x4 max since itunes has to convert the file prior to burning and you dont want to get any buffer under runs..

If you are having Toast - iTunes incompatibility probs, try reinstalling iTunes and THEN toast. If you even upgrade iTunes, the problems will come back. There's a few extensions that iTunes puts in that interfere with Toast. When installing Toast, Toast moves these extensions so that Toast, iTunes and Disc Burner all play nicely together.

Thanks everyone, but I don't have Toast, so that's out and the songs are all off of CD's, not the internet.

In other words, everything the way it should be, but whenever I try to burn a mix CD of songs it processes the whole thing, gets all the way to the end (usually) and while closing the tracks and/or verifying the CD, it suddenly spits out the CD and gives a negative seven thousand error code of some kind (-7625 or thereabouts).

It happened before and I reinstalled iTunes with success. Now it's happening again and I'm getting pissed.

I can burn other data like backup word documents for storage, but something is f-ing with my audio burn capabilities and I can't find anyone to tell me what it is.

Apple is, as always, totally useless and nobody else has heard of it.

Could it be that my "music" folder was moved? That's the only thing I can think of that I did directly, but I did so long before any problems.

Would I be getting an error code if there's a hardware issue (i.e., by Toshiba internal CD-R is busted)?

Help.
