What's the easiest, and most cost effective, way to transfer video from a standard VHS tape to my iBook? I'm sure its probably a pretty simple (aka stupid :-) question, but I've never done it before and could use any advice I can get.

Thanks

It depends if you need the video at full frame and resolution. If you do get a firewire bridge about 250-300 bucks. Otherwise get a usb capture device.

Thanks for the input. I'm a professional web designer and I have a client that wants to add a video clip to their site. But they only have it on a VHS tape. So it definately doesn't need to be full resolution.

What USB capture devices would you recommend?

I've tried USB vid capture and it sucks. A firewire device (like hollywood dazzle bridge) is much better. If it's just for one job, why don't you borrow a DV cam with analog in.
