So...

I have a 450Mhz, 256MB's of RAM, G3 iMac -- and would like to start Digital Video capturing. I'm a little uncertain what all iMovie is capable of (I'd rather have more options than just cutting and pasting the audio/video as one clump item) -- and I'm totally impressed by what I've heard Final Cut Pro 2.0 can do.

My question is, can I even run it with those specs? Anyone have any suggestions or anyone who'd like to brag about iMovie's abilities? :-)

I've got a DVSE 400, with 384MB and FCP2 runs fine.
It may not render as fast as a G4,but it gets the job done.

Iv'e also put a 75gig HD into the iMac with no problems.

A friend of mine has just finished editing his first feature film on an iMac 500. We had to up the RAM to 256 MB, but it runs great, and very stable. too, no dropped frames.

BTW he learnt to edit with FCP 2.0 having finally given up trying to find an editor who was prepared to work on his budget (zero), and he has no prior compter experience, which says something about how well designed FCP is.
