Just got a new iBook 600(256MB, 20GB) and just downloaded some clips from my DVcam (FW)... However, I can't get full use of iMovie's functions/controls ! Can't crop (can't choose the option under edit) or insert titles. Does this have anything to do with not registering my computer w apple yet? Also, I have some AVI files which I want to edit but iMovie won't open them.

Any tricks? HELP!!!!

Thanks.

Are you clicking under the movie time bar to get the yellow band in between the cropping markers? It doesn't have anything to do with registering.

About the AVI - there are utilities to convert AVIs to movs out there. Check version tracker. AVI2MOV I think.

yes, the program is Avi2Mov, but it comes in a package called Divosx. I've wasted many an hour searching the web for avi2mov...Also, try Divx Doctor II. It offers the same feature of Mov conversion, but it also has batch processing, support for wma audio in Classic, and a very good tech support forum. plus it's always good to have a fallback program or three...

thanks guys... however, at one point, when i downloaded clips from my DVcam, some were pixelized and mosaic-y. Later on when I downloaded again, they disappreared... what gives?

Is it possible that you have iMovie for OS 9 running on OS X and/or vice versa?

Also, in order to choose the option "crop" under edit, you have to make sure that you've got the individual clip selected in the timeline.
