I've download a variety of bootlegs, but none seem to play with any of the available mac divx codecs. The ones that do only give a second of video even though the file is well over 100megs. Very strange.

Those files are encoded in a Windows AVI format. In order to be able to watch those without any conversions or alterations, download "vlc" (Video Lan Client) from VersionTracker. It may just be my computer, but I found that the player makes odd skipping sounds throughout the movies I play.

Don't bother, the quality is really bad - even for a cam. wait til a screener or DVD rip comes out.
