sometimes, when i batch capture, i get an "out of disk space" error...
any idea? i have 40gigs to spare...so it's not just a case of me running out of space...

Sounds like a you need a defrag. If your HD is fragmented at all you may want to defrag. FCP doesn't like to capture into fragments.

1. Check the order of your scratch partitions (in FCP prefs).
2. Defrag.

You may have plenty of room on your drive, but perhaps FC's scratch disk is set to capture to a smaller drive without much space (maybe your system drive). Go to Log and Capture under File or Preferences (Capture tab or something like that).
