I've just bought a new Dual 450 machine and my quicktime is acting up. I think I had this same problem with the original G4 I had. So is it just Quicktime having the problem? When downloading a WAV from the web, I get an error from QT when trying to play it that it isn't the right format for QT to play it. It's just a WAV file and the icon's a QT icon. What's the deal?

Not all WAV files are the same - just as movie files can have different compression routines, so to can .WAV files. I would guess that the WAV files you downloaded were encoded in one of the less popular WAV formats. You'll need to open them in a sound app like Sound Edit 16 and save them out as AIF or WAV files (SE16 will make them the proper WAV file for mass distribution).
Yeah, but they always used to work, even on my G3 at work or my older Power Computing Machine I had two years back. This is the problem with every file I try to download, not just some as well as all of my old sound files that used to work before.
