Okay,
You know on pages such as : http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwny00/
there are the ref movies that refer you to the REAL movie? I can't seem to find a way to find that link in the ref movie. QuickTime won't let me see it. I'm thinking that the link is embeding in the actually movie itself, and there is no way to get it! Arrgh. Anybody know how to achieve this?
Thanks,
Josiah

If I understand this correctly, you are trying to find where the links from a reference movie lead. For the record, there is a utility called "MakeRefMovie" that does nothing but create links to other movies for targeting correct bandwidth. If you are trying to decode a MakeRefMovie, the easiest way is to open it up in MakeRefMovie. You can download the utility from Apple.com (somewhere under QuickTime authoring I think.) Remember that if you are trying to access a RTSP/RTP streaming file, you will not be able to save it to your hard drive. The best you will be able to do is save a link to the streaming file itself. If you are trying to save an HTTP served file you should be able to just hit SAVE from the file menu... As long as copy protection/KIOSK mode is not active. Hope that helps. If not, feel free to e-mail me.

I believe it is streaming, but it's not live, so there must be a way to save it. I want to save this movie : http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwny00/
so I can watch it, b/c I get on getting interuptions while watching it. I don't care so much about the video as I do the audio. I wonder if there's a way to turn that off. Anyhow, I'm on a 56k, with QuickTime Preview 5. I tried it before when I had QuickTime 4.

Even though the file you are trying to watch is not live, it is quicktime streaming. Therefore as Zephyrus said, you will not be able to save the actual file, just a link to it. So you're out of luck if you want to save it to your hard drive. But if you keep getting interrupted you an pick up where you left off by moving the transport to the point in time you want. Hope this helps.
