I missed part of the keynote, but it was my understanding that there would be MPEG 1 and 2 streaming in QuickTime 5. All I see posted on Apple's web site is MPEG 1 support!?! Is MPEG 2 coming? Is it too hard to encode/decode an MPEG2 file on the fly? Is there a problem with licensing? What's the deal? I am 99% sure I heard Steve Jobs promote MPEG 2 streaming via QT5 in his keynote a while back. Am I wrong?

Ok, what about surestream or some comperable technology? If Real and WiMP can send multiple datarates down one stream, why can't QuickTime? It's a pain to have 5 different encoders for a single live event. Look at the quality and ease of use of Real8 live streaming. Come on Apple, you guys are missing the ball here. Not only do I not have the quality with QT, but I have to spend more $$ on equipment, deal with 5 different computers, and set up a mini-network just to do one live event!?! How dumb is that? QuickTime needs surestream or a variant thereof to do live broadcasts. Period.
