After installing QT5, I found the plug-ins were automatically "installed" (i.e., placed) into the Plug-In folders of both IE5 and NS4.75 along with the "QuicktimePlug-In.class" files. And so I was led to believe (that is, assumed) that the setup was just fine...
However... when I go to the CNN.com Videoselect site (which I visit with some regularity) I find that when I choose the option to stream the reports via "Smart Quicktime," I get nothing. No QT plug-in window opens as it did with 4.1.2 Pro. It doesn't seem to make any difference in either IE or NS. Upon checking (at least in NS) the preferences for the helper applications, I find NS seems to register the plug-in as version 4.2, instead of the expected 5.0a5 which is the actual plug-in residing in said folder(s)...
Has anyone else noticed this odd turn of events? I rebuilt the desktop and actually deleted all the corresponding NS helper application preferences for QT 4.1.2 to no avail... Have I perhaps missed something? When I go to the QT TV site, I can d/l and view the movie trailers, but suspect I've not set up my helper apps correctly. :-(

As always, I appreciate in advance any constructive feedback on this subject

P.S.
Other than this little "quirk," (which may actually originate on CNN's server site), I find QT5 to be an impressive improvement in quality of playback over previous versions. I like the new UI and can't wait until the "fully featured" version arrives in my inbox... ;-)

Uh, uh... Interesting. What OS are you on? I have been having problems with EMBEDed QT players in OS X... But never under 9.
