I installed QT5... and its cool that any file named .mp3 gets converted to the appropriate file types/creators... sorta.
It can be a pain... but obviously this is a step for OSX, if you know what I mean...
I just wanted to say that... now heres the prob. I had the new QT5 icons for mp3's and stuff, and suddenly I start up and the QT4 icons are back... what gives?
The files still open in QT5... I installed QT5 right over 4. There should be no remnants of 4 unless the installer leaves them there.
I know its not much of a prob... but annoying nontheless. I tried rebuilding desktop, etc...
Any ideas?
BTW, mp3 support is still pretty crap... skips just as bad as before. I'll stick with Audion for that. Although I only tried one mp3 in QT5...
EDIT: Just noticed, the movieplayer icon has also reverted... and aliases to it. Must be an extension

I've noticed the same problem occurring with an MPEG movie on my desktop. The icon will switch back and forth between 4 and 5, although it always opens in the QT5 player.

Yes, the QT4 player is still there... could that be causing the problem?

Hm...
Yeah, it switches back and forth, seemingly randomly.
I just opened an mp3 and it opened in the OLD QuickTime player, which to my knowledge I deleted. Mustn't have
I quit and opened the mp3 again, and it opened in QT5.
Very strange...

Good thing I'm not the only one with this problem! Rebuilding the desktop doesn't seem to work. I noticed that when the finder quits (usually due to an installer or such) then the QT 5 icon shows up. Restart and the QT4 icon is back. As far as I know there are no longer any parts of QT4 left. The other werid thing that happens is that somehow I opened up two copies of QuickTime...yet, there is only copy of the player on my computer. Two copies show up in the application menu and in GoMac and I could switch between the two despite only one copy of the player having been launched. Weird.
