Quicktime video capture

Yesterday I bought a cheap digital camera (che-ez) It takes pictures ok (for what is essentially a toy) and can capture a very small 8 second quicktime movie. But the instructions also say that if i have an aplication capable of quicktime video capture then it can capture video while connected to the computer (USB). Can anyone tell me about such aplications? Ideally a freeware/shareware app capable of video capture and recording in quicktime, but of course any info on cheepish comercial apps would also be appreciated.
Is i-movie capable of USB video capture? I got the impression that it will only work with firewire ? Any help on these questions would be great.

Similar question...

I have a USB still camera (works fine with iPhoto) that also captures movies.

iPhoto sees the camera and will grab the pix, but won't grab the movies.

What can I use?

BTV is a great shareware app that captures in Quicktime. There's also HackTV which Apple lists as a Quicktime Developer tool, but I believe it can capture in quicktime and is free.

As for the second question, I use the Finder to download images and movies from my digital camera (nikon coolpix 775) over USB
